Title: Abarth: The Real Italian Job
Post by: android_808 on February 18, 2016, 09:26:16 am
Abarth UK uploaded a multi-part vid to youtube.  Something about stealing plans for a project 348 from Torino and bringing the back to the UK.  Could just be a marketing campaign for the existing models or an eloborate way to show facelift or 124 plans, who knows.

Yes I have a feeling it's a teaser for something :)

I like how they didn't too anything too risky... like driving down stairs.... because they would have all ended up with broken backs on that sport suspension, ha ha.

Really ?

I bet we have all 'hooned' it a bit more than that video, it wasnt very exciting.. i was at least expecting see police lights, j turns, and a few jumps.

Maybe its just me, or my mind is stuck in the 'real italian job'   ;)

I saw a yellow Record today at the Slough dealer, what a beautiful colour it is!
But £36k for a "naked" car (no xenons, AC or stereo), one must be mad, there are so many other cars to buy for that money!
Abarth marketing will be laughing, taking things off the car and charging more, ha!

I think the yellow one you saw is a limited edition 695 one of about 37 sold in the uk .Im sure some one on here will confirm this or correct me .

^Indeed.
The dealer said it is a Record, not a Biposto, it has manual gearbox.
if I had £36k to spare in a new car I wouldn't look at an Abarth.

The low budget? ha ha.... I think they did well on a shoestring (although I'm not a massive fan of the ad's). I'd rather they keep making great cars you can drive than spend lots on great adverts you can only watch.

Needed a bit more action but the 124 is going to look terrific if the car looks as good in the metal as the design drawing suggests!

I cant disagree, however others have made budget adverts more exciting.

I think the scope of a car chase being on public roads was the problem, had it been on a closed course then they could have gone wild, I'm sure even big budget films like James Bond's Spectre wanted to flip a car in Rome and Italy flat out refused (not seen the film but think they used a few sets to get around some restriction), but then remember the original GT86 adverts where the virtual guy was drifting about on a virtual road? That had to be banned because a couple of people suggested it condoned dangerous driving.....  ::) it wasn't even real, lol. This was one of my favourite adverts.

Ah yes, i remember seeing that one. I read about it in the paper, it said It was really smart because they went digital to get it through the advertising rules (And that advert cost millions to make), then I believe the advertising police even changed the rules to ban digital.

This has to be one of my favorite... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0_GCuim9kY
it was released shortly after the Toyota digital advert was banned, it was a two fingers up to the advertising police.. It was within the rules as the car was only being 'tested' and in no way condoned dangerous driving etc... God that sounds awesome too...

;D ;D ;D Brilliantly OTT isn't it, ha ha ha.

But back on topic, has anyone noticed there are absolutely no teasers from Abarth in Italy.... normally I have to search them first for news and the UK follows..... but for some reason it's all UK focused.... even the video being from Italy direct to London? Coincidence? I think there is more to it......... perhaps some sort of early exclusivity???

It's just the shadow of the mirror drawn in, the mounting point is the same as the Fiat 124. :thumb:

Off topic again but I seen a GIF recently which seemed like an advert for like a suzuki alto or something small and boxy like that.

It was 2 of them racing through a computer game with bonuses like boost and oil slicks similar basis to Mario Kart was a great watch but could not find it for the life of me, it might only be a GIF but it was one of the bes car adverts Ive seen keeps you engrossed from start to finish.

Think it was hosted on one of those tiny url's
