Title: Possibly the best looking 595 Competizione?
Post by: John501 on December 13, 2013, 09:34:12 am
I know opinion will be split because of colour / interior choice but after I saw this Comp in the flesh I'm convinced it's the best looking one I've seen so far.

As always, opinions are welcome  :thumb:

Already sold, it's waiting for it's new owner to pick up tomorrow.

Was about £22500.

Very very nice.

I need to find an extra 3k and buy the 695 kit. The wheels look stunning. :thumb:

The wheels make it.  :thumb: Great car.

The diamond cut alloys are such a pain  :thumbd: The owner made a good choice.

Why Re the diamond cuts a pain?

Damage a diamond cut alloy (even the smallest nick or kerbing) and it can only be repaired on a lathe in a workshop. Unless you have a spare wheel, the car will be off the road for 4-5 days.

Painted alloys, like the ones here, can (usually) be repaired within an hour on the roadside by a man in a van and cost up to half what a diamond cut alloy costs to refurb.

Moreover, you can only refurb a diamond cut alloy 2 or 3 times, as they skim about 3mm off the wheel, each refurb. The refurbishers told me that owners with diamond cut alloys are more often than not getting them powder coated after the first refurb.

I will never buy another car with diamond cut alloys. :thumbd:

Great looking machine, only thing I'd change would be the seats to the red and black leather sabelts.

Very nice combination John , may I pick your brains ?
Have you seen an Officina red Abarth with silver stripes and may be silver mirrors ?
I'm considering this combination but haven't seen it !

I presume you mean the satin grey stripes, unfortunately no I haven't.
The red looks fine with chrome mirrors though.

Think I'd prefer silver stripes have seen them available through ebay although probably not available from Abarth , did have the chrome mirrors on my last 500 so will go different this time .

Anything is possible but watch the quality of the stripes from Ebay.
Better off finding a local stripe man who will give you a warranty. May be a few pounds more but well worth it.

Thanks for the tips John , I'm an Italian motorbike restorer so do lots of decals on vintage / classic motorcycles so fitting the  Abarth stripes is a straight forward task
